Here are some of the images I made whilst experimenting with Slide and some other image altering websites.
I also went into www.photobucket.com and www.picnik.com and used the image generators there. The first two are from Photobucket and the others Picnik.

RSS Feeds

Today I set up an iGoogle account so that I could add Google Reader to my page to subscribe to a number of different RSS feeds. I had some trouble trying to find websites which contained RSS feeds so I went to an RSS feed directory and choose a couple from there on music, cars and art.

I think that the news reader is a good application that can be very helpful and a time saver so that you do not constantly have to be searching websites for new information it is sent to you! The fact that the title and the actual article information of each 'New Update' are different coloured links which makes it easier to know what part of the text is what, and where the information orginally came from.

I don't really think that I would use this feature too much in my personal life because I do not visit many websites that are constantly being added to with new information and articles. In gerneral I do not spend a lot of time reading/finding new items online, but with the RSS reader I wouldnt have to spend time looking for new stories etc. to view, I can easily view all new updates on the one page of the Google Reader.

I think that RSS feeds for libraries are a very important online resource which is an easy was to keep up with any new information relating to the information industry and other local services which it can connect too. Library staff members wouldn't have time sent aside to search websites that they constantly use and refer to for updated information, this way they do not have to spent a large amount of time sifting through a large number of websites for new info.

I love the detail in this photograph and the background colour also compliments the colour of the cats coat and makes the image very easy to look at.

First Post: Discover Information Literacy.

Within this blog I will be writing my opinions on the YouTube video 'Discover Information Literacy'.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWzigkpR7yg The video was very informative and even though it was slightly fast paced the content was really thoughtful and practical. All of the information embedded in the video made sense and and was easy for a wide range of age groups to understand, it also had interesting  transistions to make it eye catching.

The main thing I took away from the video was the DISCOVER method. I thought that it was a really simple and easy way to remember how to analyse information to make sure that you are getting crediable and useful information. It simply highlights the steps to being information literate and how/what you should be looking for to determine that the information is accurate.

Even though I had not heard of the DISCOVER method before I believe that I still went through many of those points when searching for information on the internet. Making sure that the source of the information was true and up to date, checking on more than one website to verify the information, citing all online and print resources, organising material and changing my search term to find more information.

In conclusion I believe that this was a very helpful resource which easily explained the process of finding reliable information and constantly reviewing your searching techniques to improve your findings.
